At fifteen years old a young girl is in Target texting away on her phone, to most a teenage girl having a phone is completely normal to the left of her is her little sister who is nine years old and has a phone texting this would get a second look who could a nine year old possibly be texting? The two girls are not alone there is a mom and father with them who are on their phones too. In most everyday culture this is very normal these group of people are the Generation Y also known as The Millennials which refers to people born between 1980 and 1999. There is currently eighty million people born in the United States between the time of 1980 to 1999. They are the first generation to have email, instant messaging and cell phones since their …show more content…
She refers to millennials starting the work force and their HR professionals seeing what effect technology has had on millennials. She exsplains how it doesn’t have an effect on work but they have “tethered” relationships were they just spend all their time of their phones and don’t have actual conversations with people. She compares people who didn’t have phones growing up or at all and how it is hard for other generations to understand why millennials have such a pull with technology. Tyler has a good point but since she states in her article she is not a Millennial I find it that she is disagreeing with Generation Y and how they are coming up in the workforce they are on their phones plenty that is mainly all she talks about in her article. But most bosses are aware of Millennials and they have to give everyone an opportunity in the workforce. Everyone has to start somewhere back when blacks and whites had to be in separate bathrooms, schools and work places. I am not comparing The Generation Y to the African Americans but only referring that everyone has to go through obstacles. Millennials are very hard workers they are very determined people although they want quick answers they also want feedback from their bosses most people before that would just want to do their job and go home and be content with where they are. Millennials want to know what areas they are struggling in and how they can improve. Tyler also referred to Millennials as “dreamers” where many don’t want to work regular jobs or they expect as soon as they get a job they will move to the very top and start changing lives. Which is a good quality to have they are driven and willing to work hard they are quick and get the job done they keep most older people a run for their money in the workforce although most are not looking to replace anyone they just want an opportunity like anyone
