In Battle Royal, the point of view is that of the main character whom we never learn his name. The story is about the life of a young boy being brought up in a very oppressive white to black time of our country. His point of view is that of a young black boy and his story of finding himself during a very oppressive time. Tatlock was described as "the biggest of the gang." (pg 231) Tatlock’s point of view would have probably been much harsher and expectant of his surroundings. His point of view would be to pummel the other kid and to win. His reasons to win are obviously unknown, but it could be because he felt he needed to appear strongest in front of these men who could possibly kill him. Or perhaps it was simply for money for an unknown cause or both. This answer we'll never know since it wasn't told from his point of view or that of one of the boys who cried when they saw the naked stripper. For that matter, the story could be told by the stripper who in all honesty, was equally as oppressed in this situation. Women still didn't have rights during this time and she was very obviously seen as nothing more than a material object sent there to fulfill the needs of these men.
Every point of view in this story would have been drastically different. Our character specifically gave the story a specific sentiment due to his achievements and intelligence. He went there to deliver a speech with pride for not only himself, but also for his community and was stricken down and made of mockery of every step of the way. Even to the end, you were left feeling that he was cheated and wronged, despite his scholarship and "grand
