In the Scorch Trials, it started off when the boys and Teresa were dropped off at a dormitory by their rescuers. During that night, their rescuers were hung and immediately they knew something was wrong. Not just that, but Teresa was also missing in her room. However, a kid named Aris was in her room claiming that he was from group B and and that he came from a maze with a group of girls. Hearing the story, it frightened the Gladers because it was almost the same as theirs. Later that night, the boys discovered that they all had a tattoo that designated their role. For Thomas, he was labeled as, “ to be killed by group B.” A few days after this, a scientist from WICKED came to the boys and explained to them about what’s going to happen next …show more content…
Worried and concerned, the next day Thomas led the Gladers to phase two of the trials. They traveled through a trans portal and had to go through a tunnel filled with dreadful traps. A few Gladers were killed by the traps but the others managed to find an exit to the tunnel. The exit, however, led to the desert where the hot sun shined relentlessly. The boys had to shield themselves from the sun or else they’ll get burned. On the way, they faced storms with lightnings that causes the boys to run into a nearby city building. In there, they met a crank named George that claims that he’s the leader of the cranks. Thomas and George came to an agreement that if George and his trustworthy partner, Brenda, a teenage girl, helps the Gladers get to WICKED, then they will deliver the cure to George. With this deal, they began their journey to the Safe Haven where they fought many cranks along the way. However, Thomas and his group were captured by a group of cranks and were drugged. Minho manages to rescue them but Thomas later on gets captured by WICKED. Healed and safe, he was later returned to the Gladers with many unanswered questions running through his
