The SENSE study (Sleep and Education: learning new skills early), a community cognitive-behavioral therapy and mindfulness-based sleep intervention, aimed to test whether improving sleep habits could prevent depression in adolescents. The study was done by means of randomized control with adolescents (aged 12-17 years) who were at risk for depression due to high reported levels of anxiety and sleep problems in a questionnaire (Waloszek et al., 2015). Participants were randomized into a sleep improvement intervention or an active control condition that would teach study skills.
