African Americans in the generation now, do not appreciate the pathways paved for us. Being out in the forefront demanding equality and integration was something wanted by all African Americans. They did not sit around and wait for the next man to make the first move. They all had similar minds and wanted better for their people and their culture. However, in today’s time we do exactly what Gil Scott did not want us to do and that is sit around and wait for the revolution to be televised. We are going through a modern-day version of racial discrimination and yet we are still sitting around doing nothing proactive as a community to shed light and get justice for the wrong doings. Yet and still we long for justice more and more each day. The difference with today’s society and past generations is that we now have proof of the racial and often-times illegal discrimination that goes on around us. However, because we are so complacent and programmed to think that the next man will fix it, we sit around waiting, waiting, and waiting for something good to come from the same people who did the bad. This type of compactness is just what discriminators want from the African American community. The more we allow injustices to go untouched, the easier it will be to reprogram the young white and black minds that this type of behavior is ok, better yet
