The Pursuit of Happiness “Run From Taxi Scene” In the film The Pursuit of happiness directed by Gabriele Muccino, during a sequence of events in which the protagonist, Christopher, does not have the money to pay the taxi for a ride thus he has to run from the taxi driver who proceeds to chase him. This sequence uses several film techniques to add to the effect of this moment with the intention of showing what challenges Gardner will have to face in order to complete his internship. This Intention, I believe, is to display the beginning of gardner's decent. The techniques that are used to achieve this intention are the location, symbolism, the acting and the costume in this sequence.

This scene follows gardner as he runs from the taxi driver due to the inability to pay the driver. This chase causes Gardner to run down into a subway which the director has used as a literal depiction of the decent which the protagonist is on. This chase also further foreshadows the harsh times …show more content…
This scene also contrast with the previous scene in which truman is getting through a problem, that being solving the rubik's cube to prove Jay Twistle wrong who claimed that such a task was impossible. This scene takes place in a car which is moving up a hill showing how Garner is getting out of a problem which directly contrasts with this scene in which gardner is moving underground in which gardner in in a problem which is used throughout the film to display the situation which Gardner is in such as the bathroom scene where the protagonist is below ground in a serious financial situation and the closing scene where Gardner is on a hill after getting his
