In the play “The C Above C Above High C” by Ishmael Reeds, the writer focuses to analyze the effects and use of unrealistic elements which categorically affect the play. By use unrealistic elements the author is indeed able to open up the dominion of possibilities and has unlimited options in front of them. This play really imparts itself to the use of these unrealistic elements since in most part of the play is about people speaking and conversing about topics or events that others do not see or do not happen at that same time. A good example of this is when Mamie Eisenhower is in a highlight watching Dwight and his mistress Kay Summersby in the hotel room where they just had a fling.…
On the evening of Saturday October 8th, the cast of the play Fuddy Meers took the stage and put on a unique and exquisite performance. The play took place in the Temple Theatre which I found was a highly interesting venue. There were several different elements that I found greatly intriguing during the course of the ninety minute performance, however, there were a few elements that I felt were also lacking. The first element that I believed helped to add significance to the performance was the stage setup(1). The revolving setup of the stage was perfect for this play and it allowed much versatility for the characters during specific instances.…

The Tragedy Paper Review The Tragedy Paper by Elizabeth LaBan tells riveting narratives alternating between two contrasting perspectives, Duncan’s experiences and Tim’s recollection. LaBan illustrates a relatable road to self-discovery through the eyes of Tim, a misfit. I was completely captivated by the story, LaBan meshed the two plotlines perfectly to make me want to continue reading. Throughout the book, Laban brings the reader along with Duncan Meade during his senior year at The Irving School. At school, Duncan encounters CDs from the outcast boy, Tim, that lived in his room the previous year.…
Without dramatic action a play cannot exist. Action brings about change, and change is what gives a play meaning. In The Lake, the transferring of the ring that occurs in each scene brings about change in the story by sending a seemingly impossible couple on a lifelong journey. There are other conceivable options that could be the action of The Lake. Buddy asking Maggie to the prom almost brings about change, but it isn’t Buddy’s question that makes her say yes.…
This past weekend I went to view Southern Miss’s Trojan Barbie. This play was an amazing display of the range of talent in Southern Miss’s theatre department. As I stepped through the doors of Tatum Theatre, I was transported back to Ancient Troy. Along with the set, the preshow soundtrack made me excited for the play that I was about to see. When the lights dimmed and the play began, soldiers walked out from the vomitoriums and surrounded audience members.…
Though a very eerie scene in the play, the scene was also very crucial for the introduction of a new topic: identity. because of this revelation, the author ‘frees’ herself from her struggles and…

One of the characters seems private and very concerned about her daughters well being by complaining how hungry she was. This only proved how ones own family can go against each other when placed in these types of situations. This anger is seen towards the middle of the play when a woman is taken away for not being able to pay her way. Clare Bayley uses a small container that portrays a train vessel which is the obvious reason anyone would go crazy with anxiety. This is a good way of bringing us viewers into the play with the cast.…
In the two plays Act Without words and Soul Gone Home the playwrights develop the theme of their play in uncommon way. They try to send their play’s message by making the readers think deeply and by making him imagine what they are reading. The words do not have the importance of actions and symbols in these plays. Moreover, they show the area when the people begin losing their trust in God. They give up trying to face the struggle and to have the courage to develop themselves and their life.…
What is a truth? One may derive a multitude of definitions for this vague word and may come up with many different truths; and this is no different from how one perceives what a single or several symbols possibly mean. However, one could make inferences or inductions to what a symbol may indicate due to the symbol's usage and context of a given passage. And as such, one would perceive academia, the games, and the baby in Edward Albee's play Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf as having great symbolic relevance as they can be shown blurring the lines of reality and illusion. Academia symbolism is enveloped in this play has a major relevance to the setting as it establishes a context of which the characters fall under.…
