The play The Musical Comedy Murders of 1940 is about Elsa Von Grossenknueten; finical backer of the shows, wanting to know who was The Stage Door Slasher who murdered three chorus girls in the last shows, with the help of undercover cop with a no nonsense attitude, Michael Kelly and her maid Helsa Wenzel. In December 1940, Elsa invited the creative team that made Manhattan Holiday to her mansion in Chappaqua, New York, for a backer’s audition to another musical. The first of the guest to arrive is an Irish tenor named Patrick O’Reilly, followed by Ken De La Maize; a theatre director and Nikki Crandall a singer/dancer.
