The four sub schools, Social Learning Theory, Social Control Theory, and Dramaturgy can be used to understand a criminals behavior. In 1983 film, The Outsiders, examples of all four sub schools can be interpreted. The Outsiders is a movie about a group of teen boys who consider themselves to be "Greasers" the boys misbehave, have knife fights, and commit crimes. Out of all the boys, Dallas Winston, is the boldest.…
“There were a few whores included in the tour, yes” (60), Ben, instead, meets the people opposite of what he wanted to. Ben decided to have an affair with Mrs. Robinson because he failed to meet the one person he wanted. However, Ben didn’t want to have sexual relationship with Mrs. Robson, he wanted to get to know her, to build a relationship, “I don’t- I mean I could. Or we could just talk.”…

And by her losing her father affected her greatly and needed to occupy that emptiness with what she thought can give her happiness. Her decision to marry Larry Donovan was in my opinion trying to fill that emptiness that her father left her. As a consequence, that desire to create a family blinds her to really see who her future husband was in reality. Her obsession with becoming an excellent housewife is too great that she would spend her time sewing every day or as Mrs. Steavens says “pedaling the life out of it” (212). She was getting prepared for her new life as a wife, and this over preparing to become a housewife didn’t let her see with whom.…
1. Over a hundred people were involved in the production of this film. The entire cast and crew are not given equal credit in most films. The majority of the camera crew and other production workers are not given as much credit for their work as the actors and director/producers, even though they play a huge role in the development and production of the movie. The making of a huge blockbuster like ‘The Departed’ involves the use of an immense crew.…
Over time, Greg introduces Rachel to his longtime friend and partner Earl (Ronald Cyler II), with whom he makes short films parodying a more popular film's title. At Greg's reluctance, Earl convinces Greg to share their collection of short films with her, which she finds entertaining. As Rachel begins chemotherapy as her disease worsens, Greg begins spending less time at school and more time caring for her. Discovering them shooting another film, Greg's high-school crush Madison (Katherine C. Hughes) convinces Greg and Earl to make a film dedicated to Rachel, and Rachel persuades Greg to apply to a local college. Despite being accepted by the college, Greg continues to ignore schoolwork, and eventually school altogether, in order to finish the film.…
Adolescence is a time of intense physical, cognitive, social and emotional development and growth. It is a time of testing family and societal boundaries in order to find one’s own identity and to better understand one’s self. The film Dazed and Confused is made up of a cast of teenage kids exploring the issues of friendships, juvenile delinquency and family dynamics. From the perspective of developmental psychology this film is full of examples of the way adolescents navigate the changes that occur within their relationships and lives during this period of development. The three developmental-psychological principles depicted in this film which are being analyzed in this paper are parent-adolescent conflict, peer groups and juvenile delinquency.…
Two of the main characters, Beatrice and Benedick, were known for their battle of wits and barbed insults towards each other. While they had many confrontations, they both were able to agree that love was not something they wanted to experience. Through every insult and memory of their failed relationship, they were able to formulate the belief that there was no love between them. They wholeheartedly went along with their created lies and the people around them had been aware of this, and so decided that they were going to take matters into their own hands and help them discover the buried affection that they shared. They created their own deception plot to set Beatrice and Benedick up by making sure that they talked about the other's “unrequited” feelings for one another when they knew that Beatrice or Benedick were eavesdropping.…
For my film analysis, I chose to analyze the movie “The Outsiders” directed by Francis Ford Coppola and based on the novel “The Outsiders” by S. E. Hinton. In this movie, a gang of outcasts from the north side of town called the Greasers are always fighting against a rival group called the Socials, who are the rich jocks from the south side of town. The story follows two young Greasers, Johnny and Ponyboy, who aren’t like the others. These two see that fighting is pointless, but it’s just the way they live their life. The two boys get into a fight with some Socials and end up killing one.…
Introduction The Longest Yard, featuring Adam Sandler, as an ex-pro football player and present convict named Paul Crew, is a story of the struggles and tribulations prisoners endure during their track to becoming free citizens. The movie starts with Paul Crew being arrested for a DUI in the state of California and being sentenced to a prison called Allensville Penitentiary in Texas. While in this prison, Crew discovers what it is really like to be a convicted felon and what it is like to have to deal with other convicts, prison guards and the officials of the prison. Right off the bat Crew gets off to a bad start, which is not his fault, he gets in an argument with the warden of the prison about being the coach for an inmate football team that…
The only catch is that Elaine has no knowledge of this intent and Ben decides to travel to Berkeley to seek her hand. He finds and stalks her on campus for days until finally following her on a city bus to the zoo to meet another man by the name of Carl. She acknowledged his presence and simply walks away with Carl. Several days pass and Elaine shows up to Ben’s apartment to ask why he has come to Berkley. She begins to tell him Mrs. Robinson’s story of the encounter in the terms that Ben had raped her.…
After a stream of bad luck, she finally convinces a lawyer to give her a job as a file clerk at his firm. Although no one took her all too seriously at work because of her lack of experience and “trashy” ensemble, she soon changes their perception of her when she begins to investigate a suspicious pro bono real estate case involving the Pacific Gas & Electric Company. After relentless prying she finds out that PG&E was secretly trying to buy land from local residents in order to cover up the damages done in the area. Come to find out, they had been contaminating an entire neighborhood’s water supply with a deadly toxin called hexavalent chromium and not telling anyone. Erin Brockovich is by far the most interesting model of leadership in this movie but when you consider mainstream leadership qualities, she is not our usual contender.…
From a Criminologist perspective, the purpose of the purge is to make the crime rate decrease and to make the world a better place. It also decreases the homeless rate. It decreases the homeless rate because, in the 12 hours that the purge is in active, the people who get killed are the ones who have no protection. Also, the homeless people are considered filthy, worthless, and not worth saving. They are also the major target because they are the easiest to find, torcher, and kill.…
“NTGUILTY” I’ve always been intrigued by thrilling scenes and suspenseful moments in the movies I watch and grown to love. The Lincoln Lawyer is no exception. The Lincoln Lawyer is in a genre that truly speaks to me. The Lincoln Lawyer is a crime, drama, and thriller film starring Mick Haller played by Matthew McConaughey, a defensive lawyer who represents low life criminals, drug dealers, con artists, and call girls.…
Movie Review: The Internship Summary of the storyline The Internship is a 2013 American comedy film directed by Shawn Levy, written by Vince Vaughn and Jared Stern and produced by Vince Vaughn and Levy. The Internship is about two middle-age salesmen Vince Vaughn as Billy McMahon & Owen Wilson as Nick Campbell who work as a team for a failing high-end watch company finagle a summer internship at Google’s headquarters in Mountain View, California. But The Internship is far more than propaganda for Google's heavenly work environment (which it doesn't really need, as the world's second-most admired company).…
