Parents should restrain their kids from playing football. The risks of long term physical injury and brain trauma isn’t worth the rewards of playing football. Professional Doctors and former National Football League players tell the world to stop playing football, but it seems like people don’t listen to there professionals. Who would want an increased risk of physical injury or brain trauma? Football is dangerous for anybody, especially if under the age of 18. Since the brain doesn’t fully develop until about 18, the vital organ could be harmed while playing football. Also, 7 High Schoolers died this football season while suffering blows to the head. Some of the more popular players include: Junior Seau, Brett Favre, Jamal Lewis, Jim McMahon, Antwaan Randle El, and Mike Webster. All of these players have Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy. They are blaming the Nation Football League did nothing to help them with their injuries and concussions. Peter Landesman wrote and directed the movie “Concussion” that came out on Christmas Day 2015. The movie was about Mike Webster, who died in his car. At first no one know how, but Dr. Omalu, figured out that he died because of CTE (series of repetitive blows to his head) symptoms. After studying for months, Dr. Omalu found 250 other patients with CTE as well. The movie starred WIll Smith and also dealt with the issues the National Football League had with concussions. It talked about how the NFL does nothing to protect their players and doesn’t have enough rules to help the players with concussions. The movie portrays a good idea and scenery for why parents shouldn’t let their kids play football. As it says in the movie: “Repetitive head trauma chokes the brain! And turns man into something else.” Will Smith talks about how different someone’s life can be if they have Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy, it can turn them into something different.
