Improved Essays
In “The Most Dangerous Game”, Rainsford is sailing on a boat and enters the feared waters of Ship-Trap Island. Rainsford’s boat gets trapped, causing him to fall overboard into the roaring waters. After waking up on a sandy beach the next day, he wanders through the thick forest and spots a trail leading to a luxurious chateau. He walks up to the door and is met by Ivan, a servant. Behind him is General Zaroff, a dark, mysterious man who invites Rainsford inside for food and shelter. At dinner, Zaroff speaks of hunting a greater animal. He hints at the “greater animal” being man, and that the next day he wants to hunt Rainsford. When the time comes, Rainsford and Zaroff are both in the dense forest hunting each other, Rainsford hunting first.

In the book “The Most Dangerous Game” by Richard Connell, the two main characters are Sanger Rainsford and General Zarroff. It seems like General Zarroff is the type of guy that thinks if it is ok to hunt animals then it is ok to hunt humans. But Sanger Rainsford is the complete opposite guy he is against hunting for real men but not humans. The two main conflicts are Man vs. Man and Man vs. Nature.…

Why the Setting is Vital to the Plot in “The Most Dangerous Game” In “The Most Dangerous Game” by Richard Connell, there are two reasons of how setting is vital to the plot. For instance, the island earns the name it is given by suspicious sailors, “Ship Trap Island” because of the fake channel luring ships right onto the sharp rocks. General Zaroff makes a bogus passageway guiding ships to “safety”, when really it is a trap so that he can have new “prey” to hunt. The general explains all this to Rainsford, “‘They indicate a channel. . . where there is none; giant rocks with razor edges crouch like a sea monster with wide open jaws”’(8).…

"The Most Dangerous Game," by Richard Connell, demonstrates that actions can have major consequences, as shown through the conflict, setting, and characters of the story. The conflict of this story focuses on Rainsford's struggle to survive being hunted by the skilled huntsman, General Zaroff. This is shown numerous times throughout the story. Such as when "The dead tree, delicately adjusted to rest on the cut living one, crashed down and struck the general a glancing blow as it fell (77).…

The Most dangerous game is easily my favorite. It has a lot of twist and turns in its plot and it draws my attention. It starts off introducing the main character, Sanger Rainsford, on a boat heading to Rio in the middle off the night with his friend Whitney. When Whitney went to bed, Rainsford started to smoke his pipe and heard multiple gunshots. He looked into the dark from the direction of the shots and fell overboard trying to grab his pipe that he dropped.…

    (21) Rainsford has now fallen into the water. He has to swim all the way into shore, since his boat is long gone. This leaves him tired, wet, and with no supplies on a strange island. Another example of conflict from “The Most Dangerous Game” is, “His whole idea at first was to put distance between him and General Zaroff, and, to this end, he had plunged along, spurred on by the sharp rowels of something very like panic. Now he had got a grip on himself, had stopped, and was taking stock of himself and the situation.”…

In The Most Dangerous Game, as any day a man named Rainsford was on his way to Rio to go hunt, but what are the odds his plans would ever turn out so bizarre. The story starts off ashim and other men on a yacht hoping to “have some good hunting” in Rio(12).One night he goes to “smoke another pipe on the afterdeck” (2),and he hears suspicious gunshots in the distance. His curiosity seems to have taken over, and he lurks on the rail of the ship with his pipe, soon dropping the pipe, losing his balance, and falling into the ocean. After struggling while the water over his head, Rainsford swims a good distance to soon get to land. Rainsford remembers the shots and concludes to himself to search the island; he then finds General Zaroff’s “palatial…

Argument essay Edgar Allen Poe and Richard Connell, both master authors who were so gifted that they were able to make you feel any kind of emotion just by using very descriptive forms of words, known as imagery. A good example of one of them using imagery was in Richard Connell’s “The Most Dangerous Game”,when at one point early on in the story,Richard described the night as “dank”,and “tropical”,and how it “pressed its thick ,warm blackness in aboard the yacht.” Connell really made you feel like you were out on that yacht with Rainsford during that dark night ,and was what made the story such an interesting read. They both were able to pull you into the story,as if you were experiencing the events right alongside the main characters ,and a…

As many of my friends at Marquette had never been to a Milwaukee Bucks game, I suggested that we went to one as a group. Since everyone was excited by the idea, we went to the next pre-season game. The game was between the Bucks and Pistons. I was extremely excited to go to this game in particular, as I had not been to a game since this spring. Like the college students we are, we got the nosebleed seats, as one can see in the attached photos, but it is still pretty easy to see the action when a lot of the players are 7 feet tall.…
