In the short story, "The Love of My Life", T. Coraghessan Boyle explores a tragic event of a murder of a child. It begins with young highschool couple, China and Jeremy. Both have an outstanding education, Jeremy was set to attend Brown, while China was chosen in her top-choice school in Binghamton. During the camping trip, China and Jeremy conceived a child, even though both of them are eager to avoid pregnancy. China decided to keep the child at first without seeking medical attention to hide her pregnancy. One night in the hotel, China delivered the hotel and proceeded to tell Jeremy to just "Get rid of it", without identifying the gender of the child and considered an unimportant object. Jeremy did what China wanted, he put the newborn in a plastic bag and threw it out in the dumpster. Both characters contributed for their downfall of their relationship. In the story, China appeared to be a victim and innocent, but the reality was she was to blame for everything that led to the loss of her lover and loss of her child. …show more content…
