Dave Hackenburg, a beekeeper, is horrified when he discovers that many of his bees disappeared. Those bees are the first ones to die in the mysterious calamity which still affects the honey bees today. Without bees there would be no fruit and vegetables; there would be no honey or beeswax. The bee wranglers and the bee scientists are trying to understand the colony collapse disorder. This nonfiction/information book “helps adolescents explore the world of science” (p.276).
