One day, Nick was invited to go with Tom to meet his mistress, Myrtle Wilson. After they meet and journeys the city, Myrtle invites friends to come over and they ended up spending the afternoon drinking at Myrtle and Tom's apartment. Myrtle and Tom started fighting over Daisy and Tom breaks Myrtle's nose. Myrtle and Tome started fighting over Daisy and Tom breaks Myrtle's nose. Nick put his attention towards his neighbor and upon Gatsby's invitation, Nick attended one of the gatherings where he bumped into Jordan and Gatsby.
