Embracing New Technology
In the essay “Could You Live with Less” Stephanie Mills thinks that one should live a life that respects the phenomena of the physical world and is dubious of technological advances. The author explains about his lifestyle of how she lives in a small home with a very few of household implements. She adds that one reason why she lives in this way her earnings as an independent writer does not permit her to buy many things. In addition, Mills thinks that people only need essential necessities such as food, water, and shelter to have a good life. Moreover, she notices that employing more technology in her daily life would have negative effects. For example, she dreads she would have not as much control in her life she used technology frequently. Technology is the application of scientific knowledge for practical purpose. In our modern era, all people are surrounded by technology. There are so many ways that technology changes and improves humans’ life. For example, cell phone has become a tool that people use in daily life. People are able to communicate with one another whether from far or close distance. Also in schools, the use of computers and calculators make everything easier for students. School children are able to use the computers for research for their homework. They are able to use that machinery to study on their own whether in schools or outside. In our work places, employees are able to store every information on computers rather keeping on papers. The use of calculators helps us in math and other calculation subject.
