The classic sequel to the Elfstones of shannara, this book deals with the elven magic inherited by Brin and Jair Ohmsford, the children of Will Ohmsford as a side effect of prolonged use of the elfstones. The story starts with return of Allanon, which for the Ohmsfords means trouble. Brin has to go to maelmord, to destroy the Ildatch the source of evil. That is when Jair gets to know that if he does not go to his sister’s aid, she will fail. He sets out to help her with a dwarf, a gnome, a borderman and a weapons master for company. He is aided by the king of Silver River. Meanwhile, Allanon dies fighting a jachyra, a thing of evil.Brin gets possessed by the Ildatch but is saved due to the bond of love between her and Jair.
