It has come to my attention that the recent obesity epidemic will soon be addressed during next week’s combined town meeting. Students from Algonquin have demanded policy change regarding the requirements for our school lunches. The food currently being offered to adolescents in the cafeteria, school store, café area, and are filled with sugars and carbohydrates, that likely promote an unhealthy diet and continued obesity. Upon watching the documentary FED UP in Health, a coalition of students will be asking for policy change, citing the movie as their evidence. FED UP argues that the worldwide epidemic of obesity is endangering our children as a result of the increased sugar consumption.…
Documentary films are aimed at explaining or highlighting aspects that are essential for humans. Film Sicko raises the issue of health care and health insurance in the USA. In addition, the film showed that there are insured Americans suffering from health care service in contrast to other countries (Documentary Storm, 2011). Insurance coverage does not guarantee one’s well-being and health. As it was shown in the film, health insurance companies are trying to maximize their own profits.…
I agree that there will always be health disparities. Even if everyone has the same access to health care, there will always be those who do not take care of themselves or who end up with diseases that are out of their control. It is sad that only those with money get the proper health care needed regardless of the outcome. The same is true when I was growing up in Jamaica, if citizens did not have finances they were not able to go to the doctor. Many have died because they could not afford treatment.…
If the United States were to have free healthcare to all citizens the amount of money would greatly increase, or even double. Not to mention the United States is already 17 trillion dollars in debt. Where would the government come up with the amount of money for the country to have free healthcare? The United States would become even more in debt as is if there were free…
The US has more treatments available and short wait times to be seen by a professional, these additions to the american health care system are only available through ridiculously high payments. I strongly believe that everyone is equal and if one can not afford health care, we as a nation should help them receive the health care they deserve. For this reason solely the universal health care system is…
Considering the fact that many people come to the US for better work and education opportunities, there should be better medical opportunities as well. The questions I have after viewing this video and reading up on this situation are mainly for the US. I want to gain a better understanding as to why the US can’t get on board with a better healthcare plan. What is stopping this nation from taking care of its people? Why is so much money being spent and so little coverage being put out?…
Without a government program that provides medical care for citizens, a country would crumble. It is inhumane for a country to deprive the people healthcare in the 21st century. Although most countries do have a healthcare system, not all work in favor of the citizens. For example, the United States Health Care system is not adequate for its citizens while the Canadian health care system is. Both nations programs are commonly compared and contrasted.…
The United States has one of the worst healthcare systems of any developed nation. Also, the American health care system is deteriorating drastically. In 2008 the United States of America had the most deaths from diseases and injuries than any other country because of poor health care. Well isn’t that a stinker for us Americans. No wonder why the producer called the movie sicko.…
Have you ever been afraid of getting sick? The fear lies not so much in the illness so much as the cost of the treatment. As you may well be aware of, the healthcare system in the United States could use some reform. That is what many believe anyway. Those who do not get their healthcare via health plans through their work inevitably have to pay for health care through more standard means, myself included.…
America’s government doesn’t argue for the people but for the companies and lobbyist that line their pockets. A lot of people would love to argue that we have one of the best healthcare systems in the world. If a person can afford that healthcare then maybe we do. The real issue is how few Americans have access to insurance or medical care. A lot of people like to argue that America is the best when it comes to aiding other countries, any amount of research can prove this to be untrue, but luckily or “free media” makes sure that we only see the best of humanitarian aid.…
Today many Americans are increasingly concerned about their health care. About 18.7% of Americans currently do not have healthcare. This is due to individuals not having enough money to pay for it. And not even as individuals but as a married couple there still is not enough to cover that horrid bill. On top of the cost not many people get medical treatment so that 's wasted money that could be used for other bills.…
In the US, the health care system is under much debate, at one extreme, there are people stating that the US has the best system in the world, while at the other, there are people that state it is inefficient and excessively costly. The US spends almost double the amount of money on health care when compared to its superpower counterparts such has Great Britain, Japan, Germany, and other up and rising countries. The health care system of these countries are observed and data is collected to see exactly what their governments are doing in order to cut cost as well as to put in better perspective what the US is doing wrong. The systems used by the different countries are by no means perfect, but whatever they are doing places them in a better…
The private sector has been focusing on making a profit over the years, ignoring the importance of health care for all. There is no ideal system and no final…
Free HealthCare: Right or a Privilege? If Canada, Europe, and even Australia provide universal healthcare, why does the United States, one of the richest countries in the world, not do the same? The United States is in so much debt with other countries and even inside its own country that the healthcare is not on the list of their citizen’s privileges.…
An Apple A Day Keeps The National Health Crisis Away America is the fattest country in the world. We love to eat meat and cook everything in a deep fryer. Our "food" is made out of chemicals produced in a lab, cooked on a conveyer belt, and put in a box. Most of our food won 't go bad for weeks because of all the preservatives we have in them. While we are preserving our chemical nuggets and enjoying our pink meat disks we are not preserving our health or the health of future generations.…
