In chapter 8, Dr. Manhattan takes Laurie to the mar, because he can see the future. Dr. Manhattan saw a conversation with him and Laurie to save the world. He already knows that what Laurie going to say to him, “of course it is here on Mars we debate earth’s destiny”(8,5,2). He knows what they are going to talk about and how it is going to end, “It ends with you in tears…”(8,17,2) He knows Laurie going to end in tears and he does not change a thing. He makes her think about her past and he makes her realize that she is Edward Blake’s daughter. He knows what going to happen. He does not just cut to the chase and tell her that truth.
