Levitt and S.Dubner presented, is using feedback. Most of the time, people have problems, they try so many ways to find a solution. On the contrary, they don’t know the best way is feedback. The reason why they are scared to use the feedback because it is not always 100 percent correct. People might take risk from it and nobody wants to come back to starting point. Finally, it is easy to understand why “using feedback” is one suggestion of thinking like a Freak. For example, in the book “Think Like a Freak”, some marketing executives believed that TV ads are more effective than paper ads, but they could not prove their faith. After that the authors suggested them to run an experiment to see the result of sales by separating into two groups which were having newspaper ads and no newspaper ads. Executives refused to do the experiment, although they knew it might have a strike to their sales, depending on the experiment about sales without ads from another company. First of all, nobody can imagine that using incentives can solve problems until they read the book “Think Like a Freak”. Why? Because it is kind of crazy and unnatural. However, “using incentives” as solution cannot be refused since it is totally true. People seem to like to do whatever the other people can do and they care all benefits that they can be able to have. In the result, “using incentive” can be used like a trick to contribute to promote people to do good things. For example, Smile Train, a charity that provides surgeries for children with cleft and palate in poor countries. Smile Train needs more support from donation in order to maintain for surgeries; therefore, the founder found a risky solution by sending email offered choices which were once donation only, twice per year and kept in touch with the charity to all donators. Most of them chose to keep in touch with the charity rather than choosing donation one time because of the progress and communications that the charity sent to them. The result is that the plan is risky, but it is helpful. No one can have enough brave to experience “one lose one stay” plan to achieve what they are looking for.
