In able to restore Ra’s full power and overcome Apophis, Sadie must complete reading the spells in the Book of Ra. As she is doing this, Carter is fighting off the demons and Menshikov, who is possessed by Apophis, with the help of Desjardins. Although Desjardins gets killed in the process, he does cast a spell that makes Apophis banished for a short amount of time. “Desjardins saved us. I-I didn’t like him either, but-” (416). They may not know how much longer they have, but it will help them prepare.
