But time could be a luxury for those who have to face a sudden death. As shown in Lindholm’s study, spiritual well being tends to be positively associated with self-confidence, general assertiveness, and inclinations toward offering praise, and to be negatively associated with depression, conflict avoidance, and negatively experienced effects of potentially stressful situations. Summer nights were the most fun time for us kids who were free from schoolwork but had enough time to digest all the ghost stories under the staring sky. We got chills and dared not to walk inside the dark home to fetch anything. The imagination of the youngster could carry him/her too far. After hearing many scary ghost stories, I thought I saw one headless ghost in the darkness one night and got sick. The ghosts did not just haunt our kids. Adults could be victims. My mom was one of them. I still cannot believe what I saw and experienced until today. She told us that many ghosts chased her on her way back home and got really sick. Later she was possessed by one of her dead aunts who wanted her to become a middleman. After several middlemen were invited to control the situation, she came back to normal. That experience forever scarred her about ghosts. When she put her faith in Jesus Christ, these ghosts still visited her occasionally but not of any concerns for her. During those years, I tried either to push those fears out of my mind or seal them at the bottom of my mind. Many years later, when I read the stories about the possessed spirits in the Bible, those memories surfaced and made me question whether we can discharge what we cannot see. We cannot see the air but we can feel it and know it is there. Thank God, that opens my eyes and I truly believe the world we are living is way more than we can see with
