Similar like any group throughout history, not everybody joined for the same motives, and I'm pleased that this documentary makes sufficient of mention of that. Individuals were very irritated in the group, and towards it, but not everyone goes into those groups. From what I gathered was that several felt that if society was not going to treat them right, they'd take care of themselves and their own districts and beliefs. I think that was because a large amount of folks understood their reasoning’s. However, not all of them that joined were content with just that, especially when violence and oppression against them were so common by police. I think that I can understand what it means to be part of these groups and the hardship that comes along with being an activist. Even today after so many years have passed since the Black Panther Party was established, blacks still face heavy discriminations and struggles in America. In one of the articles, “Something Disturbing Happens When People Say Black Instead of African-American”, the author brings up the point that even the word black places individuals at lower statuses then someone referred to as African America
