Personal Narrative: Sally's First Day At A New School

Sally begins her first day of freshman year at a new school. It was her first year going into high school and she had no idea what to expect. Sally was so intimidated by all the students that attended the school and how large it actually was. Each of her classes were packed with students, at least 20 in each class. After the bell rang, that’s when the chaos began. Every student would practically run out of their class to the next, hundreds of students in the halls, frantically looking for their next class. Sally had to ask every teacher she saw where her next class was. She would get so nervous asking the teachers that her hands would start sweating. Sally was relieved that she was in her last hour class for the day, she could not stand being …show more content…
Unfortunately, these girls were cruel and so rude to Sally. They would all stare at her and give her nasty looks, laugh at her when she would go up to the classroom and even call her names. These girls made Sally almost despise school but she knew she had to stay strong. She knew that if she let these girls win, that the school year would be a living hell.. So she decided to ignore these girls as much as possible and focus on her school work. She was going to prove to them that she was smarter than all of them. She wasn’t going to let these bullies ruin her first year of high school starting at a new school. What this scene proves is that once a student starts at a new school, there is many challenges and obstacles one must face. Arnold, the main character has attended a new school that he would of never thought of going to in the beginning. Arnold experience starting a Reardon was a challenge. First, the reason that starting at a new school was challenging for Arnold was because he was bullied. He was first bullied on his reservation at home. He was bullied by kids similar to his age and he was pushed around based off his appearance and ways of speaking. The bullying affected him negatively. It caused him to be alone more than he deserves. It allowed him to see himself through others eyes. Arnold was able to become an artist/cartoonist through this bump in the road. He was able to handle getting bullied by himself. Arnold knew that he was too strong and smart than to let these kids bring him down. He knew that if he stayed positive and kept his head up that he would not be pushed down by these bullies. In the moment, Arnold could not stand these bullies and he wanted to fight back and at points, he did. He just knew not to let them affect his life other than just at school. He knew not to dwell on the cruel things that they would say to him. Arnold knew that the bullying was going to last forever and in the end, most kids at Reardon almost admired
