Steve is currently a sophomore at Euclid High School who enrolled in Euclid City Schools August 14, 2015. Steve has earned 75% and above in all of his class this year except Geometry where he earned a 60% the first quarter. Steve improved his Geometry grade the second quarter earned a 79% (C+); however, his grade in Geometry dropped the third quarter to below a 60%. His current accumulative grade point average is a 2.59. He continues to earn above a 2.5 except for the third quarter where his GPA dropped to a 2.1. Teachers continue to report that Steve is friendly, polite, participates positively in class, and asks for help when needed. Steve has fallen behind in some classes this year due to absences. Steve also has a written expression goal to assist him in accessing the general education curriculum in his English courses. The report indicates that Steve displays strengths in the area of math calculation. He is achieving at the same level as typically aged peers. Steve's weaknesses were in the areas of reading comprehension and written expression. Based on the team's report from the spring of 2016, Steve made significant progress in Reading Comprehension and he mastered his previous IEP reading goal that states, "When given a grade-level reading passage, Steve will demonstrate reading comprehension by using summarizing techniques to answer comprehension questions with a 60% accuracy in 4 out of 5 attempts as measured by work samples and curriculum based assessments." Steve's scores on reading assessments during the spring of 2016 were as follows: 90%, 80% and 29% averaging a 66%. These assessments measured grade level literal and inferential comprehension questions pertaining to literary works. Steve's reading comprehension scores on the Odyssey measuring inferential plot and character analysis were as follows: 90%, 89%, and 92%. It is the team's decision that Steve no longer needs a reading goal. Steve's scores on informational and literary AIR practice assessments for the 2016-17 school year continue to demonstrate mastery in this area (86%, 100%, 85% and 93%). Steve participated in the MAP reading diagnostic test this year and he earned a RIT score of 207. Steve's score was below the norm the norm grade RIT score of 221, but it was the testing administers observation that Steve did not give the test his full effort. Steve seemed tired and uninterested when taking the MAP test; therefore, it is not believeled to be an accurate score of his reading
