For the tone there really isn't Particular tone other than dark I guess. It's shows that the rebel military aren't nice goody two shoes that they portray them in the movies and tv shows. The mood of this story man I don't really know what the mood of this story I could say depressing or I could say nothing. It depends on how the reader interprets it. One thing I do know that author makes clear that war is war no matter how small it is.
The story is about the hardest toughest and most dangerous people in the rebel alliance ok maybe not so much every one they do recruit untrained civilians into their ranks. The author style of writing was really slow I have to admit i was immersed in the story only because I was a fan the star wars
