The US Army in World War II within 2:00 Minutes Aundrey Hepburn, one of the most famous British actresses, once said, “Everything I learned I learned from the movies” (Lamoureux). The role that motion pictures have in people’s lives is distinct and undeniable. As a matter of fact, being a mixture of art and technology, movies have always been considered to be the core part of a nation’s culture and the whole country itself. “So it is no surprise if past leaders like Hitler, Mao and Mussolini had always wanted to be in charge of their country’s movie industry” (Chang). Many people who have already watched the preview are convinced that it was the choice of the characters that made it so appealing."Mr. Spielberg and the screen writer, Robert Rodat, have a way of taking characters and making them uncountably compelling" (Maslin).The trailer continues by an interesting mixture of both still and moving images. By perfectly managing every single element of cinematography, Spielberg portrays the true reality of the war, meanwhile letting the audience to experience the same cruel reality that each soldier had to face. At the end of the trailer we see a soldier standing alone against the sky. Furthermore, we see the same image to appear on the posters for Saving Private Ryan. Steven Spielberg’s new world war movie, “Saving Private Ryan" has been almost universally lauded for painting an unusually realistic portrait of war. Moviegoers not only see what combat looks like, but they hear it as well, from the plink off gunfire on a soldier's helmet to the boom of mortar skills to the cries of the wounded
