A Song to Tell a Story James Baldwin was considered as one the most talented and amazing writer in America during the mid-20th century. James Baldwin was the one who was behind many great stories because he has a distinctive style in American literature, but one of his notable works of is Sonny’s Blues. Unlike other stories, Baldwin uses jazz to depict the story of two brothers who struggled with their life as they attempt to live righteously in a world of hatred and rage. The narration of the story concludes the struggle that people have faced during 20th Century especially the sense of racism was strong at that time. Sonny’s Blues however can be considered as the powerful example of a story that uses jazz as a literary language The story tells about two brothers, Sonny and Sonny’s brother who served as the narrator of the story. The two brothers was struggling to live righteously in Harlem city which fills with rage and hatred according to the narrator. The story of Sonny’s Blues is somehow universal because it can be adapted to many lives where some people may struggle to live in non-supportive neighborhood.
