Summary Of Social Work Case Study

Patricia is a 29-year-old, cisgender, heterosexual white American female. She has been residing in the Logan Square neighborhood of Chicago for the past two years, but she is plenty familiar with the area since she was born and raised near Chicago's surrounding suburbs by a well-respected, Catholic family. Her dad owns his own company and despite being busy at work, he has always had a balance and has been able to provide and care for his wife, Peter (24) and Patricia. Patricia has always had a good relationship with her parents and brother. However, she has always felt the need to impress them. The reason being her feelings of intimidation over her father’s success. Growing up in a safe environment, made Patricia want to experience an alternative lifestyle during her youth. She hung out with people that often drank and did drugs during high school. She was arrested once during these years, which made her realize she had to part ways with some of her bad influencers. Her rebellious stage seemed to help her build a strong character, which would later help her during times when her mother was diagnosed and survived breast cancer.

Most of her childhood friends have become extremely successful, and this has put an extra burden on her. The pressure to impress her family and friends is not only making her become very self-critical when she fails to do so, but she has also been struggling with panic attacks and feelings of shame for her inability to impress.
