The movie, The Princess and the Frog, is a story told in New Orleans during the 1920s. Tiana, who is African American, is trying to beat the offs by buying herself a restaurant. It was Tiana’s father’s dream of owning a restaurant, but he was unable to accomplish it because of the hardships he and his family faced. The film, for the most part, shows what life was like for those who lived during the 1920s in New Orleans. Being that Tiana’s dream was to open up a restaurant, the importance of food during this time period was shown.…
Who would have thought that Star Wars can bring two people together, even celebrities themselves like Kim Kardashian and Kanye West. Love at first sight can be fictional for some but in this case, it holds true for Kim and Kanye when wearing fictional garbs. Who can blame a guy seeing a girl dressed up as Princess Leia, in the same costume she wore when she was captured by Jabba the Hut? Kim Kardashian West confesses that she is thankful for the Star Wars franchise because if it wasn't for the fantasy film itself, she never would have fallen for her now-husband Kanye West. Kim posted online, "Happy Star Wars Day!" which also includes a photo of her and Kanye West costumed in a full-on Star Wars attire during the premiere of the much-awaited…
For our final and movie presentation I chose to watch the movie Remember the Titans. Many people may not know this, but the movie is a based on a true story. The true story is based on the 1971 Virginia state football champions from T.C. Williams High School. This was one of my favorite movies growing up, but I never watch it from the history side of it. Remember the Titans is a movie that is based around two schools being shut down and all those students being forced into a new school with both African Americans and whites.…
We had been attempting it for months. We never thought that we would get far at all. The only thing that I knew was that it was going to be tough, tougher than finding a string of hay in a stack of needles. I had the entire match set up. Every player was ready, I made sure all our internet signals were wired in correctly and would not disconnect.…
The interactionist perspective is conflict, cooperation, and the way people act in society. The movie Shrek illustrates the interactionist perspective by in the beginning of the movie there is an ambush of men trying to burn down shrek's house, because he lives and looks differently than they do. Shrek isn’t a “norm” in their society so the ambush of men do anything in their power to destroy shrek’s living situation. Shrek will never live up to the expectations of the humans because shrek appears differently than the rest of the people do. Throughout this whole movie shrek is never a part of their society because he doesn’t fit their “norms”.…

Movie franchises have a great influence on people’s lives. Everyday, movies are stripped of quotes and relatable situations, and are used to form personalities. The influence that Star Wars has on people’s lives is so massive, that there’s a celebration in Florida every year to commemorate that inspiration. When it comes down to it, Star Wars inspires more creativity and more imagination than any other movie franchise on the face of the Earth.. Culture has been rocked hard by the Star Wars universe, with the unintentional birth of many daily things to come from it.…
Taming of the Shrew, a play written by William Shakespeare and 10 Things I Hate About You a movie that is based off of Taming of the Shrew are very similar and different. Both of these have their parts that are like a mirror to one another but then there are other parts that seem to be like a mirror from a circus. Hence the timeline choice for 10 Things I Hate About You is a perfect example for differences in between these two scripts. While both stories were written in their modern times, the span of 400 years creates significant differences in how the stories were told.…
Walt Disney Network has been a part of almost every American’s childhood life. For 35 years, Disney has created animated fairy tale movies that were intended to be child-friendly and create positive images. After, close analyzation it is evident that instead Disney has produced distorted images of racism and segregation in their movies. I have selected the animated film, The Princess and the Frog (2005). In the film, Tiana represents The Other of African American’s in the 19th century.…
When one person declares their overarching importance of another it creates an environment that says it is okay to treat others like they are lesser and show them no respect. An abuser of power becomes corrupt and destroys an effective society while reveling in their own narcissistic successes. Two boys travel together to a land of magic, fantastical sights, beautiful landscapes, and a war ridden society that can only be saved by “the magnificent”. One of the boys, is known as the difficult one in the family. He is constantly being told he does not listen, that he is no good in comparison to the other, and that he needs to be more like his father.…
