The NOW statement of purpose echoes the sentiments of the Seneca Falls Declaration through it stating that it wants equality with men. Both documents want to include women in all aspects of daily life and make them equal to men. The purpose that is echoed is that women no longer be ignored and treated beneath men when women have made just as many helpful contributions to society. The NOW statement aims towards a movement that allows all women to get the rights deserved and needed such as rules and regulations guaranteed by the Constitution of America. The sentiment that Women deserve more is echoed throughout both statements of NOW and the Seneca Falls Declaration.

The Seneca Falls Declaration created an image of women's status as though women are robbed of something. Women were depicted as oppressed human beings and they were missing a vital part of them being citizens of the United States. Women gained the right to vote, life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness as well as regular rights of American citizens. By 1966 women gained the right to work at jobs that were previously unavailable to women, vote and dress just as men could. The vision outlined in the NOW statement has almost been achieved. Men and women are almost equal except for the fact that women do not receive equal pay for executing the same jobs that men do and women are often looked down upon in the work place.
