In the article Pike and Jennings experiment and study how commercials effect children’s perception of the appropriate gender for the toy. First found commercials featuring gender neutral toys, such as Legos and an airport set, and then they transformed the commercials to have both genders in them. They then show about seventy students the regular commercial and the converted commercial, asking them is this toy for girls, boys or both. From this experiment they found that boys are more likely to believe a toy is for both genders if both are present, suggesting boys pay more attention to the characters. For the regular commercials the children suggest they toys are for boys. In conclusion this experiment helps suggest that exposure to gender
