The article I choose to connect to our topic is about a survivor of the shooting at an Orlando nightclub in 2016. Patience Carter was one of the 53 people injured that night. She was shot in both of her legs and luckily escaped. However, the bullet that was going to hit her, was blocked by, and killed a man by the name of Jason . It wasn’t until weeks later when she was at the Teen Choice Awards with the rest of the survivors, that she realized that Jason saved her life. Patience said that she “felt so guilty.” The article also explains how the enormous support from her family and friends has kept the guilt from taking her to a darker place.
