Once Upon a Dream
Walter Elias Disney, also known as Walt, was one of the most famous entrepreneurs in the world. Many people recognize the name Disney due to all of the films the Disney Corporation has crated since his death and also the massive amusement park, Disney World! Although most Disney fans love his creations and films, they don’t know the true story of a man who went bankrupt or the struggle of creating his first amusement park, Disneyland. Walt never gave up his dreams and pursued them no matter what issues came about; this is why he’s so admirable! Walt was born on December 5th, 1901 in Chicago, Illinois (Editors). He began drawing and painting and even selling some of his artwork when he was no older than 10 years old! At the age if sixteen Walt had dropped out of high school to join the army, but he was rejected due to his young age. He decided to join the Red Cross instead and was sent to France for a year to drive an ambulance. When Walt returned from his time in France in 1919, he moved back to Kansas City and pursued his career as a newspaper artist! Walt’s brother, Roy, got him a job at Pesman-Rubin Art Studio (Disneyland).This is where Walt met cartoonist, Ubbe Eert Iwwerks, better known as Ub Iwerks. After several years Walt and his new employee, Fred Harman, broke off and began their own cartoon line, Laugh-O-Grams.
