Although, Guerrini and Pinker articulate genetics, environment and gene-environment factors in behavior, Guerrini believes that epigenetic factors play an essential role in interconnecting genes and environment. Epigenetics is the process of modulation gene expressions without changing the DNA sequence. Furthermore, activating the reward system by modifying the chromatin structure to enhance pathways that lead to addictive behaviors such as alcohol misuse; for instance, the modification of the gene expression of the SHT2A receptors is found in patients who drink alcohol (Archer at al. ). Guerrini suggests that reducing parental pressure and decreasing environmental stress, an adolescent could prevent alcohol problems. Is this the definite solution for alcohol misuse in adolescents? Steven Parker and Irene Guerrini use strong evidence to support their arguments. However, the relationship between, genes, environment and epigenetic pathways should continue to be explored as well as the debate between nature and nurture in order to discover new evidence and approaches to the science of …show more content…
In clinical practice, reading, writing, and active listening are integral communication skills for the practice of physical therapy (Pagliarulo 146). This academic experience will contribute to my discourse community in three fundamental forms: enable me to evaluate professional research, to accurately write high quality notes for reimbursement, and to engage in more therapeutic conversations. In effect, improving my reading, writing and listening skills will demand a time investment. Thus, a plan to improve my writing work and succeed in this class will play an essential role. This plan will consist of making use of all the available resources such as using my professors’ office hours, tutoring center and
