N!ai comments that they were once free to roam the land and because of the colonists they were restricted to living in half the territory they original had and have little food or water. They were also dying from tuberculosis, which had not been an issue before colonization. The !Kung began to go to war so they could have money. The tribe had become more selfish and suspicious of each other. They were all very hungry and only got a certain amount of food given to them by the government. The difference in Secrets of the Tribe is that Chagnon, Neel, Good, and Lizot did not try to keep from interfering in the lives of their subjects but deeply disturbed their lives. The Yanomami were doing fine before they came to disrupt their lives. This is why they don’t want anthropologists studying them anymore. The few that remain do not want to be studied because they had been
