In Chapter 13 of My Brother Sam Is Dead we continue from after Chapter 12 and see Tim run to Colonel Parson’s house to ask him to help clear Sam up. Sam is accused of stealing cattle even though he was actually trying to stop someone from stealing their cattle. Colonel Parson is unable to speak at the moment and Tim decides to go back and wait. The meat is still outside so Tim and his Mother go out and retrieve the meat. This shows how desperate some people are for food, even going as far as to stealing it from others. Finally Tim is able to talk to Colonel Parson only for Parson to say that General Putnam is really only executing him to show his force and to inflict discipline on the soldiers since they have been very disobedient, even if
