Moon Shot is written by two authors. Alan Shepard was the first American to be in space and also one of the main people in Mission Control during the moon landing. Shepard was also an extremely good pilot and was known for wanting to land on aircraft carriers over anything else. Deke Slayton is the author. He is also another military pilot who is very good. Before America even sent a man into space, he was grounded due to a medical condition. He turned into the boss in charge at Houston Mission Control. The bias is a bit positive and a bit negative, Russia’s side and achievements were not overlooked or explained lightly, they were still explained in full of even some extra details. Chapter 4, which is pages 61-69, explains the first astronauts that got picked and Shepard and Slayton were two of the seven. Clearly if they were picked by America and NASA to get to space before the Russians do, then they are going to have some bias against Russia. Page 156, Slayton became Coordinator of Astronaut Activities and took absolute charge of the space missions. Since Slayton was the one commanding the missions, then he is going to have bias. Shepard and Slayton manage to explain the incredible journey America took to get a man onto the moon while also keeping the astronauts known and their lives known. I learned lots about the moon landing and the astronauts who made it all happen. I found out that Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin were not one of the original astronauts and were only added to the space program during the Apollo missions.
