The learning experience as an intern was great and not much can be improved on the preceptor and hosting facility Medtronic in Fort Worth, Texas. An improvement can be made in extending the required 80 hours to complete the PPE Technical Level experience. An eighty hour internship does not allow enough time to fully understand data management software, hardware management, and data management system troubleshooting. The 80 hour timeframe does not give the student and preceptor the opportunity to really understand and really learn what it takes to run an IT Workshop and how much work is involved in managing a corporate medical network. The eighty hour requirement does allow the student the opportunity to develop a solid understanding of data management software and hardware foundation.
