Summary Of Marissa Mayer's Influencer

In February of 2013, Marissa Mayer, the President and CEO of Yahoo, Inc., made a major change to the work setting of Yahoo employees. Mayer removed the ability of Yahoo employees to work remotely from home. Mayer’s reason for this decision was that speed and quality would be lost by allowing employees to work from home.
According to the findings of the authors of Influencer, this reasoning is true. The findings show that those who work closer together with the most interaction have better working relationships. Bosses who are easily accessible to their employees have a better relationship with them. These bosses and employees are more likely to have a trusting relationship than those who have a large distance between their daily work spaces.
