Time’s documentary. Studying and working diligently at school. Receiving numerous death threats online and at home. Having been mercilessly shot on the bus on her way home from school. Knowing all of the dangers that could face her, Malala Yousafzai worked hard and pursued her beliefs of a better future for her country, race, and gender. Another person who worked hard for a better future was Panchito’s father from the book The Circuit. As the story begins, Panchito’s father makes the difficult decision to move his family away from the familiar, yet limited opportunities in Mexico in order to achieve his dream of a better life for his family in America.
