Her experience in the bathroom showed many qualities of Immaculée. It showed her faithfulness, dedication and strength. While Immaculée was in the bathroom she was constantly in fear that the Hutu killers would come in and find her and the other seven women hiding in the bathroom. She knew if they were to find the women, they would all be raped and killed. Everytime she heard the killers chanting outside, she was presented with evil thoughts that she was only able to overcome through her faith in God. Immaculée’s actions in the bathroom showed us her faith in God. She would rid evil thoughts of her mind by calling on God to cast out the devil from her and keep her safe from the devil. As Immaculée spent more time in the bathroom, her faith in God increased. She prayed nonstop in fear that if she stopped praying, she would give the devil an opening to take over her thoughts and haunt her. Through her faith in God she was also able to rid herself of the hatred she had for the Hutu killers. She asked God to help them see what they were doing and make them stop killing innocent Tutsis. Immaculée’s time in the bathroom also showed us that she is dedicated. She was dedicated to many things while she was in the bathroom. She was dedicated to God. She dedicated her time to praying and trying to understand what God had called upon her to do. She also dedicated her time to learning English which she believed God called on her to do. She dedicated her time to reading whatever english books the Pastor could provide in order to fulfill God’s mission for her. Immaculée’s time in the bathroom also showed us that she has a great amount of strength. During her time in the bathroom she was filled with fear, especially when she heard the Hutu chanting get closer and when she heard Hutu soldiers saying that they wanted to find and kill
