Summary Of Laya's Story: A Day At Home

Laya, a 16 year old junior in high school, is offered a job babysitting her mothers friends children for 3 days. She took up the offer and go over to their house right away. When she arrives the mother of the children Tasha, greets her at the door. She tells her everything she needs to know about the kids. Bedtime, what they eat, Brenda’s soccer practice, etc. After they leave Brenda runs up to Laya and tells her she wants to play hide-and-seek. She agrees to play and Jacob her little brother, joins in. While the kids are hiding Laya sees the neighbor Tasha was talking about. His name was Larry she thinks. She ignores him at first but when he doesn’t stop staring she takes the twins inside. For the rest of the day the eat, watch movies, and play board games.

The second day Laya wakes everyone up early because of Brenda’s soccer practice. After being there for over an hour their practice is over and they go home stopping by McDonald's on the way. When they get back to the house Laya sees Larry sitting on his porch staring at her and the kids. She quickly rushes them in the house then close and lock the door. Around 9:30pm she puts them

After hours at intimidation he confesses that he took the kids to a place no one will ever find. Weeks go by and the kids are still not found. Laya and Chris were riding out to the set up to help the parents look in a different part of town. When they reach their destination they both get out but Laya leaves her phone. She goes back to get it and press the button on the key to unlock the doors. On accident she presses the trunk and it pops open. She presses the right button and get her phone. Almost forgetting she goes to the back of the car and open the trunk to close it tight. Before she does something catches her eye. She sees a bright pink shirt under a dark blanket. She moves the blanket to the side and see both the kids wrapped in plastic wrap
