Summary Of Klinger's Iron Agar

Klinger’s iron agar is a multiple test medium that will detect the fermentation of glucose and lactose and the production of hydrogen sulfide resulting from the breakdown of the amino acid cysteine (Alverno College, 2014). According to the fermentation reaction my unknown was a yellow color which indicated that it is acid/acid with gas. The acid/acid butt demonstrate that my unknown bacterium has fermented both glucose and lactose, producing acids that cause the pH indicator to turn yellow.
In the citrate test some bacteria can use citrate as a sole carbon source (Alverno College, 2014). The result of the presence for citrate is, if the broth turns to a dark green to a dark blue it indicates the exhibits of citrate utilization. My unknown
