I have certainly learned a lot of different things from reading this book. My knowledge was definitely broadened throughout reading it. I learned a lot about John F. Kennedy, his wife, his family and the people surrounding him. I learned about the events leading up to Kennedy’s death. Including the Bay of Pigs, Cuban Missile Crisis, and the Civil Rights Movement(talked about above). Something else that occurred during Kennedy 's term that was a difficult thing to go through was Jackie and John losing their baby, Patrick after birth. In 1963, the president and his wife announced they were expecting their third child. A few months later, Jackie and the two children were on vacation in Cape Cod, Massachusetts. JFK was in the middle of a meeting which was interrupted by the news of what was happening. About an hour later, John and Jackie’s second son, Patrick Bouvier Kennedy entered into the world via c-section, weighing only four pounds, ten and a half ounces. Although, because of the concern of the way he was breathing, the new baby was almost immediately put into an incubator. A while later, after being rushed to a Boston hospital, newborn baby Patrick Kennedy dies after about 39 hours of living (O’Reilly Bill, Dugard Martin 192-197). I also learned about Kennedy’s death, including who did it, why they did it, when and where they did it, which will be talked about more in the paragraphs below. I enjoyed being able to learn about what his family did after his passing. Jackie Kennedy, 5 years later after John 's death, got remarried to Aristotle Onassis, who she earlier spent time with on a yacht with her sister. Although, after only seven years of marriage, he passed away from a respiratory failure. Later on in life Jackie went to New York City to work as a book …show more content…
Kennedy Jr. grew up and went to a school of law, and then worked in a district attorney’s office. On July 16th, 1999 at 38 years old, he died piloting a plane and crashed it, along with his wife and her sister. John Fitzgerald Kennedy is buried at Arlington National Cemetery. His wife Jackie, and two infants they lost, Arabella and Patrick are also buried next to him (O’Reilly Bill, Dugard Martin 295-296,302). Throughout the book I also learned a lot about Lee Harvey Oswald. I learned about his life, his family and the things he did, including killing the 35th president of the United States. “Lee Harvey Oswald was a former U.S. Marine Corps sharpshooter, who had enough of life in his Communist nation”. He worked in a electronics factory in Minsk (O’Reilly Bill, Dugard Martin 13). On April 30th, Lee Harvey Oswald married Marina Prusakova, who shortly after got pregnant (O’Reilly Bill, Dugard Martin 39). Eventually, America had allowed Oswald to return home. “On May 18th, Oswald is discharged from his job at the Gorizont (Horizon) Electronics Factory” (O’Reilly Bill, Dugard Martin 86). The Oswald’s go through a long process just to get to Texas, where Lee’s brother is. A few months later, Lee Harvey’s wife, Marina got pregnant
