The pastor should visit her family and spend time all the children and not just with her parents. Playing games with the younger ones, and talking with Keisha and her siblings about what interests them will send the message that the pastor cares about them. One way to directly connect with Keisha would be to text her after she plays the piano at church and let her know that her ministry blessed the pastor and his wife. This sends a clear message of affirmation and that her contribution was important and noticed. Inviting Keisha and a couple of her friends over to the pastor’s house to make cookies with his wife or to ride horses with the pastor’s family can leave a strong impression on adolescent minds.
