Into the Wild was written by Jon Krakauer which was a nonfiction history story. Chris Johnson McCandless was a young college graduate when he decided to leave it all and head into the wild. He was the smart guy, well educated and came from a rich family. He had everything. He however, was not your typical spoiled rich kid that would brag about it. He didn’t have the finest car which was by choice. When he would come home from school for break, he would gather up with friends, spend money that he worked for, and use it for homeless people. He was on his own with no money, no technology, and alone. McCandless did this by choice. He wanted to explore and leave everything behind. He was tired of the same lifestyle and wanted to do something adventurous and crazy with his life. This was something huge for him. After graduating college, he destroyed everything that he owned. He burned all the items: credit cards, social security, and money. McCandless drove to Arizona in his Datsun which then he left behind as well. He lived off the land and transported by foot or by hitchhiking in which he met some great people along the way.
McCandless never took advantage of anyone. Along the journey to Alaska, he met many people which he won through their heart. He never once stole from any of them. Work was offered to him many times. Wayne Westberg was a man who he met along his way. Chris worked for Wayne at a grain company. Everyone that met Chris loved him and always wondered why he was headed to Alaska.
