I love how this article mentioned so many different reasons for hypotheses of the function of humor or studies that humor has been associated with, but then the authors also note that many of the studies were not empirical or were case studies. I appreciate in their conclusion when they mention that they did not feel as though even their main theory of humor, the threshold theory, could explain everything about humor and why it occurs. I think the humor responses occurs for a variety of reasons and it is subjective to the speaker if they are the ones looking to evoke it and the listener as to how it is interpreted. I think both the threshold theory and the incongruity theory both make sense in different situations and perhaps even in the same
