Hal Sieber was an influential figure during the civil rights movement, as he used his privilege to found community organizations for integration. His most famous one being, Concerned Citizens for Schools, which also created safe workshops where all Americans could discuss any hesitations and concerns they had with school integration. Overall, in the book Civilities and Civil Rights : Greensboro, North Carolina, and the Black Struggle for Freedom William Henry Chafe shines light on parts of the civil rights movement that were not included in the history books. He allows individuals to truly understand the struggles of both black and white Americans during the civil rights period, and their fight for racial equality. Since this book was written in the 1980’s, Chafe held strong goals he hoped would be met in the future. He closes his book by saying “The final lesson of Greensboro, therefore, is that the struggle will continue, even if in ambiguity and uncertainty”
