As Chris stood up to head to bed he yawned, “Alright we had better get to bed, after all we got Church tomorrow.” “Yes sir Pa”, Jordan replied. “Good-night Randy see you at Church tomorrow.” “Good-night Jordy, see you in the morning.” Randy said as he went out the door to join his father. Randy crossed the yard in between the ranch house and the foreman’s home (About fifty yards in between). It was dark by this hour but he wasn’t walking alone, Arthur had been sitting in the rocking chair on the front porch of the ranch house to make sure his son got home safely.

“My sermon this week will be about where the soul goes when you die. When your life here on earth ends your soul goes to one of two places. The eternal peace of Heaven or the agonizing pit of fire called hell. Those who go to Heaven have accepted Jesus Christ as their savior and will spend eternity in the paradise of Heaven with Him. Those who go to hell have denied themselves the eternal safety that Jesus provides and will spend eternity in agony by the torments that’s plural of the devil’s hell. If you do not have the eternal safety that Christ provides, I urge you to please ask Jesus to forgive you for your sins and accept his forgiveness by letting him into your heart so you can avoid the torments of hell. Jesus saith unto them, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father but by me. John 14:6, Jesus is the only way to get to Heaven. Not by works, lest any man should boast. Ephesians 2:9, before you leave church this morning I beg you consider what I’ve said to you. Let me ask you this, when you die where will your soul spend the rest of eternity? Will it go to the peaceful paradise of Heaven, or will it be the agonizing torments of the lake of fire? Thank you for coming and May God richly bless you …show more content…

After reading, “Sinners in the Hand of an Angry God,” by Jonathan Edwards and “The Minister’s Black Veil,” by Nathaniel Hawthorne it is shown that these stories share a common theme. Although the stories share a common theme they also have contrasting themes as well. Authors can make a story more effective by their style. Edwards style makes his story more effective than Hawthorne by using various types of rhetorical devices to elaborate on tone and create a visual of what is happening. And finally, Edwards uses the simile of God’s believers flying away like angels, to show how quickly the transition from earth to heaven will be for God’s children, and that the unconverted men will be left behind and sent to Hell to face God’s wrath, if they do not convert. His stance is that , this is the last chance for unconverted individuals to convert, so that they will go to heaven and escape the eternity of torment in Hell and God’s revenge. He uses pathos to create a strong sense of urgency and hopefulness in conversion, and despair for the individuals who did not convert in time. Edwards purpose of his sermon, is to follow God’s rules in helping unconverted men to stop procrastinating, get them baptized, and convert them to christianity, so that they can be with God in his love and glory and not suffering in Hell.…

In her book, Revelations of Divine Love, Julian says the words “all shall be well” multiple times. What Julian means by “all shall be well” is eventually everything will fit into its own spot. Eventually everyone will go to their own place, whether that be heaven or hell. Although it may seem unfair that God would willingly have his people go to hell it is acceptable as we are not unlike Russian nesting dolls, “We are enclosed in the Father, and we are enclosed in the Son, and we are enclosed in the Holy Ghost; and the Father is enclosed in us, and the Son is enclosed in us, and the Holy Ghost is enclosed in us; almighty, all wisdom, all goodness, one God, one Lord” (130). Julian also says that we ought to rejoice that God lives in our soul…

The afterlife is believed to be made up of heaven and hell, and Florence Welch isn’t the only one not taking these destinations seriously enough. If there's no one beside you when your soul embarks, then I'll follow you into the dark. In Catholic school as vicious as Roman rule. I got my knuckles bruised by a lady in black, and I held my tongue as she told me, Son, fear is the heart of love, so I never went back. If heaven and hell decide that they both are satisfied, and illuminate the no's on their vacancy signs. If there's no one beside you when your soul embarks, then I'll…

Edwards makes the congregation question themselves by stating, “When you look forward, you shall see a long forever, a boundless duration before you, which will swallow up your thoughts, and amaze your soul; and you will absolutely despair of ever having any deliverance, any end, any mitigation, any rest at all”(43). In this text it lets the readers think did they really want to spend eternity with no future to look forward to, or do they want to look forward only onto the fiery pits of hell. If one isn’t reborn again, is one really willing to spend their eternity in a burning hell? So Edwards is trying to get his congregation to use their own logic by trying to get the listener or reader to ask themselves, is this really how they want to spend the rest of their lives, in hell? Or do they want to accept Jesus Christ in their lives to live in eternity where life is everlasting?…

Man is made to be with God in eternity and it is one’s job to guide his neighbor to this everlasting happiness. All men have the desire for happiness, however God knows that all do not wish to seek Him, thus he gives all a choice between Heaven and Hell. Hell is the polar opposite of heaven. Rather than have the beatific vision in which one sees God in his glory, Hell is the eternal separation from God. Through sacred doctrine, one knows that this is not desired by God, but a choice one makes through the rejection of God repeatedly in everyday life.…

Growing up in Thomasville, North Carolina, I used to travel between two churches; one Baptist and the other Pentecostal (Holiness). Each has its’ differences, theologically, however, both had one thing in common, that God was a God that was out to get me. Growing up, I thought God was only concerned with punishing me and not loving me. I seem to accept Christ in my life every Sunday as a result of the preacher’s sermon. “Considerable confusion on this topic has resulted from trying to think of being lost in terms of its outcome.…

The review and post express the ability of the believer to be in a union with Christ for eternity. The statement that the “future depends on whether we believe this” shows how the Resurrection is critical to this unification. This new position is called “the believer’s standing in the heavenlies.” It is a situation that is very distinct from the worldly state. Paul expresses clearly the difference the Christian enjoys through the redeeming grace found in Jesus.…

If we help people in need, feed old and homeless people, not curse on others, have positive attitude, it is meaningful to say the person is going to end up in heaven. The heaven and hell lies in our imaginary thoughts and even the physical appearance of god is invisible. This helps to make an assumption that the story of the god, heaven and hell have been passed down by our ancestors. In this process, some parts were lost while others were added. The faith I have toward my god is the most important part.…
