Giles Corey’s trial and punishment was one of the most memorable part of the trials due to the terrifying outcome and caused some people to start to disagree with the trails. This created conflict resulting in the people of Salem wanting a compromise. He was examined by magistrates on April 18, but refused to stand (Linder). Twelve witnesses came forward to testify against Giles (Linder). Ann claimed a ghost had presented itself before her and said that it was murdered by Giles (Linder). Along with that Ann also said the specter of Giles had visited her and asked her to write her name in the devils book(Linder). Mercy Lewis claimed he had forced her to sign the devils book and beat her (Lewis). Elizabeth testified that Giles came to her window
